Pre-Carnival Megacade to blast through North and East Zones
The first motorcade got the blood flowing, but this megacade will have your blood boiling. The Carnival Development Committee is inviting everyone to get revved up for an explosive motorcade on 21st June. Come out in your band numbers, band colours and get ready to blow your horns and wave your rags.

The motorcade will leave the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre, Perry Bay, at 1 p.m. and end at the Piggott’s Playing Field for more pre-Carnival jamming with local entertainment. The Halcyon Steel Orchestra and the All Saints Iron Band will get your fired up for panorama and J’ouvert, while the Mighty Bumm, Calypso Jim, Young Destroyer and De Bear will whet your appetites for the Caribbean Melting Pot and the Calypso Monarch. Giving you a taste of their soca will be Danski, Nina Nice, Byke, and Blade. Then the party will really get intensive with New Edition, Revo Band and 3 Cylinder.

The party’s just beginning, and you don’t want to miss a sizzling 2008 Carnival in Antigua. Bring a friend and come enjoy a megacade like no other.

Welcome to Antigua Carnival

Dear Visitor,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Antigua Carnival 2008 and to introduce myself as the new Chairman of the Carnival Development Committee.

Carnival continues to be the most significant festival in Antigua’s calendar of events.  Carnival bears great historical, economic and cultural significance to the people of Antigua & Barbuda.  It epitomizes our history, our heritage, our culture and the talents of our people.

In 2007, our country celebrated 50 years of mas, pageantry and music.  We take great pride in where we have brought the festival since its humble beginnings in 1957.  Through hard work and extraordinary talent we have created what is widely accepted as the “Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival.”

With the festival entering its second 50 years, I have been working with a dedicated and enthusiastic team to ensure that we deliver an experience that surpasses your expectations.  Carnival 2008 promises to be fantastic.

We invite you to come and experience 13 days of fun, excitement, revelry, fantasy, mas and music from July 24th to August 5th 2008.   I invite you to peruse our website and to come and experience the Sights, Tastes and Sounds of our Carnival.  We look forward to welcoming you and are excited to not only share our wonderful festival, but our beautiful island, great food and warm people.

I am Carnival, You are Carnival, We all are Carnival.
